Warwickshire Youth Offending Service has organised an inter-generational photography exhibition at Leamington Library running from next week.

The 10-day event will showcase a number of pictures taken by members of the Claremont Centre in Rugby, Parents from the service’s Parents Matter lunch clubs and young people from the Bradby Club.

As part of the project, the group were given digital cameras to capture their local neighbourhood, family, friends, favourite past time or trip away.

The exhibition will be held at Leamington Library at the Royal Pump Rooms on The Parade from Wednesday 13 August. It’s part of a county-wide tour which will end at Rugby Library during ‘Family Month’ in October.

Kathy, one of the exhibitors, said: “This project was a real lifeline for me – and the staff still are. I have met some great people here and feel much better about myself.

“The photography project has given me a real focus and something positive to achieve.”

Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families, said: “The ‘Parents Matter’ scheme provides Mums and Dads with a place to let off steam and do something they want to do.

“Working on the exhibition has introduced parents to something they may otherwise have not done before and I congratulate them on their creative efforts.”

‘Parents Matter’ is a voluntary service run by the Youth Offending Service and is open to anyone with children between 10 and 17-years-old.
